Our Story

“What do you think Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is doing at this exact moment?”

Was the question David posed on his Coffee Meets Bagel profile. And when Chelsea responded by using “Scrooge McDuck” as a verb, it was clear the two of us—a writer from West Virginia and a screenwriter from Missouri—had to meet.

So we went to a Bushwick bar to connect in person, and were pleasantly surprised to find it was trivia night. With a $10 third place prize on the line, David insisted Chelsea be the one to answer the tie-breaker question…until the category was revealed to be “Cars,” when Chelsea insisted David go instead.

We won $10. And things just got better from there.

We ran all around New York together, seeing movies, eating and drinking well, and meeting each other’s friends. When her lease expired, she moved into David’s apartment. And when his lease expired, we got our own place together, and adopted the two best cats in the business, Jean-Ralphio and Mona-Lisa.

Oh, then a global pandemic happened.

But even in isolation, we never grew tired of each other’s company. We became closer, more comfortable, and on Christmas Eve 2020, we got engaged.

This October, we’ll be making good on that promise—and we can’t wait to share our love and excitement with all of you.
